Circumcision

Please note: Appointments for circumcision is not available through our online booking system. Please call the Clinic to book your appointment.

Male circumcision, consist of the surgical removal of the penile foreskin, has been dated back to the prehistoric era. Circumcision is often performed as a part of a religious practice, such as in Judaism and Islam or as part of a sociocultural practice in many countries worldwide. Regardless, such practices are most often performed during the neonatal or pre-pubertal ages.

Male adult circumcision is performed for a variety of indications, including penile and foreskin pathologies like Phimosis or tight foreskin & Balanitis, disease prevention (mainly sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV), as well as personal preference.

Main benefits of circumcision include hygiene, lower risk of penile cancer, and lower risk of HIV and sexually transmitted infection in circumcised patients.

The circumcision methods performed at our clinic are:
(1) Plastibell technique – This involves inserting a ring at the top of the penis that allows the foreskin to devitalize and fall off in few days’ time

(2) Free hand technique – This is done by surgically removal of the foreskin and closing the wound by dissolvable sutures.

At our clinic both procedures are performed under local anesthesia and we have found that they are well tolerated by our patients.
